Senior Smile Society

Student-led volunteers across San Francisco creating meaningful connections with seniors in nursing homes.

About Us

Senior Smile Society was created to turn small acts of kindness into lasting connection — for seniors who deserve to feel seen, and for students who want to serve with purpose.

Senior Smile Society is a student-led organization dedicated to improving the well-being of seniors in nursing homes through care packages, activities, and community support.

Through student volunteers all over San Francisco, we create meaningful connections between younger and older generations while addressing loneliness among elderly residents.

Our Goals

Reduce loneliness

Create consistent, friendly interaction that helps seniors feel remembered and supported.

Build intergenerational connection

Bring students and seniors together through activities, conversation, and shared community.

Support nursing homes

Partner with staff to deliver care packages and programs that brighten daily life.

Our Mission

Senior Smile Society's mission is to foster intergenerational connection by promoting empathy, leadership, and compassion among students while uplifting the lives of seniors in our community through kindness and care. Not only do we learn to lead with our heart, but we also develop soft skills as young high school students—communication, teamwork, and adaptability through meaningful experiences and new encounters that inspire personal growth.

Partnered Senior Homes

We work with senior homes, housing communities, and elder-serving organizations to bring consistent, resident-centered support and companionship.

Jewish Living

The San Francisco Campus For Jewish Living provides compassionate care and a welcoming environment for older adults, with a focus on dignity, connection, and quality of life. Senior Smile Society hosted our first event here, which was very successful and filled with meaningful interactions. We look forward to continuing to bring joy and companionship to residents through this partnership.

St. Mark Square, Martin Luther Tower

MLK Towers is a senior housing community dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and socially engaging environment for older adults in San Francisco. Home to many independent seniors, MLK Towers fosters connection through shared spaces and community-based living. Senior Smile Society partners with MLK Towers to bring meaningful interactions, activities, and companionship to residents—helping reduce isolation and create a more connected, joyful community.

LBFE

Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly (LBFE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating loneliness and isolation among older adults through companionship, community, and support services. Their mission aligns closely with Senior Smile Society’s goal of fostering meaningful connections with seniors. By partnering with LBFE, we are able to expand our impact, reach more individuals in need, and work together to create a stronger, more compassionate community for the elderly.
